A short distance on a paved trail, suitable for either walking or powered scooters, connects the Parkside at Stonehaven to the central Cowichan District Hospital and bus service to downtown and outlying areas. 

The 49th Parallel Grocery and other convenience stores are close by as is the high bank walk along the Cowichan River, a designated heritage waterway. Surrounding connecting neighbourhoods are safe, well lit and friendly.
